Well, it shares the "Other" category with the Deviantart secrets. Anything that represents a persons thoughts and opinions can be considered art, as long as they follow the rules. I mean, if you get mad that this gets front page, it is just because it is a "fad". Ponies are what is trending, they get first page. But the entire first page isn't made up of quotes or pony art, and that is a good thing. We all have to deal with it. Could the space on the front page be used more wisely? Sure, but that is a matter of opinion.

Well, tbh, I don't actually KNOW how they organized stuff to go on the front page but it's better than this "Fair exposure" carp. :u Back then, art had to actually be good to get on the front page. I think it was based on views/comments or something. It meant that some genres got more exposure than others (like, photography is more popular than say crotchet etc) and that was deemed "unfair" so now it showcases stuff from all the different categories. I've facepalmed so many times seeing at the stuff on the front page nowadays. Some of my earliest watched artists were pulled from the front page... hasn't been the same since F.E kicked in :\

I wish we could customize which genres we see on the front page. I know we can just click on photography or whatever but it would be nice to just have it automatically so we don't have to see this and that pony crap if we don't want to.

Oh my god, I totally agree. I do /not/ understand the pony craze. Fair exposure isn't really fair from the perspective of a viewer (imo) - I actually feel forced to look at all this MLP, anime, cosplay, "bromance" etc stuff that I honestly could not care about.

Definitely wishing dART had thought of adding more category options.

Yeah, I feel like it's being shoved in my face. And I don't exactly like it.

I know this would piss off a lot of people but I wish dA was more strict on which kinds of artwork can be submitted.. like the people who use this as a Facebook should be booted off... It's fine to have a few pics of yourself that are candid for ids and such, but seriously? 500 pictures of yourself and journals babbling on about the fight you and your boyfriend are having? I really wish dA had a sub website where everything to do with Fanart can be uploaded. including Furry stuff as well. I guess you could add Tumblr stuff like this quote and others like it and the "secret" stuff. The people who make that stuff all seem to get along and it would really reduce the fighting and judging. Idk, i'm just really disappointed in dA... I've been here for 4 years and seeing it turn into Tumblr and my little pony central is sickening. Bleh. lol

Yeah, I completely get your sentiment. I've been on dART awhile too (this isn't my first account - I remade it like... two days ago? ) and it's so depressing seeing how it's changed. I used to look forward to signing in and checking out the new art but now. Blah.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say fan art doesn't belong here (some fan art is actually pretty good and well, it is art) but ungh, all the 'niche' fan art, yup, gotta agree with you there.

i actually dont think that will happen :S.. people really only post here because of high exposure.. if they made a " DeviantPostSomeoneElsesStuff " then people might aswell use other sites similar to that really :S.. ive kinda given up hope when it comes to DA.. i browse here because i watch people i like... there are other more " hardcore " communities with fewer people if you actually want crits and honest feedback.

its silly tho.. i always browse the frontpage atleast a few pages and i'm always surprised at how this site is slowly becoming just another new meme-site..
