I did this for Paper Mario's 20th birthday a month ago, but life has been pretty hectic for me since then, so I forgot to upload it here!
My headcanon is that Tubba used to carry Yakkey around his neck like this, hence why they still have a little bit of ribbon wrapped around them. He had a constant companion, a friend to talk to. But as time went on, his newfound "invincibility" brought him more and more paranoia regarding the safety and secrecy of his heart, until he grew cold and fearful enough to lock the key away.
