Whaa, this winter is mad. Almost all the time, it has rather been a kind of autumn than a real winter, mild and with a lot of rain, so the snowdrops have been flowering here since Christmas, and even crocusses etc. are in bud. For the next weeks, however, we'll get a sunny but quite cold period - until the mid of February, at least, with frosty temperatures all the time, even at day.
I wish we had spring now!

this orchid really looks like spring, really lovely. We've had a very mild winter also & some of our flowers seem confused blooming so early.

Ah not us, Walt - we are only in the outer periphery of that infamous Sibirian anticyclone, so even carbon dioxide is still a gas here. Temperatures in Moscow are reported to asymptotically approximate 0 K, however, so even the Russian girls don't wear their typical mini skirts any more. I guess Putin is responsible for this cold weather.

So, it's like our Alberta clipper on the East coast or 'blue norther' in the central plains, only it's continuous. I was running the high school track(in NJ) one night and passed through a puddle every lap. On one lap I went on my rear; in 10 minutes the puddle had frozen. The coldest I've been through is -5 F. To make you feel better we'll be ~80F today !
