Wonderful picture, leaves me with a feeling that this place had a deep history. One that has long since been forgotton, as expressed with the sort of barren, weared down feel of it. The only thing is the sky. I feel like something should be there...

The first question what came to my mind when i saw this picture was that why that castle in the middle isnt destroyed like everything else is?

I usually have a story behind every piece that I do.
With this one, I was trying to create an aura of mysticism around the castle, perhaps a waning protection spell that still retains a little power over the years; a spell that was cast in desperation to save the the most important part of the kingdom but was not quite enough to prevent it from falling to ruin.

Hey, thanks for dropping by! The time I spend on paintings vary a lot. For a full scale illustration, it usually takes me about a week to complete. This particular piece took about 3 days to paint.

Oh, how pretty. I love the architecture - it has a very rich feel to it. The way you've arranged the destruction makes me wonder what, exactly happened to leave the central structure standing.
The effect of the mist and those gnarly trees is nice and creepy, and your color choice is very nice.
One thing, though - the way you have the ground arranged makes me wonder about the stability of one structure in particular. In the interests of realism, the arches on the left behind the foreground but in front of the still-standing castle should be either flat on the ground or angled much closer towards it. (My dad's an architect - you pick something up here and there.) If the terrain is really weak enough to erode in such a manner and then be covered with grass, the initial foundation can't have been very strong.

Pff, it's fine. It doesn't take away from the picture at all - I just assumed there was a stone strategically place to support it. Just for future reference.
