Description
I believe that part of becoming an artist is being able to revisit older works and investing some time into fixing mistakes and advancing them. I submitted the original piece for this just over a year ago, and whilst it was one of my favourite pieces, it remained riddled with a few mistakes that I really didn't enjoy seeing. So this is to see how far I've progressed, and to do the piece justice. Now, the stupid thing is, that when I decided to do this, I realised that the .psd is on a different computer, so all adjustments have been edited directly from the .jpg. I've removed some nasty parts, changed others, and added more detail. Hopefully, it's a better piece because of it.
I know it isn't realistic with the planet easily visible through the atmosphere, but rules are made to be broken, right?. It's meant to bring out that concept of contrast better.
Anyway, I'll stop wittering, I had fun with this one, and that's probably me down for a while due to exams. For some reason every time I open terragen I draw a blank, but I guess it's all part of the learning curve. Enjoy the new hotness.

it does look better - yes, However I am uncertain about the colouring, it looks good, but, its not entirely realistic ( the green areas near the deep red areas in space... ) This is a down aspect for me

It seems as though you missed the notice about it being unrealistic in the description

Definitely an interesting mod to an old favourite, it makes me chuckle to see you returning to the destructionness in what was a peaceful piece. I remember you saying to me how 'The Arrival' was, in your opinion, your best piece yet. This mod is a testament not only to your modding up a jpg skills (i sounded like a chav talking bout a nova...eww!) but your constant improval with time. Don't stop now

Really good work as always, but not close to your others imo, I don't think the collision between the planets is that realistic. you've done better than this

Nice work. I think you should definitely make some more remakes of your old works, this came out quite nice.

Is there a reason I can't find the original, or am I just silly?

You submitted this what, seconds ago? Minutes? Already I'm 20th comment, damnit.
The original of this was just about the first piece I saw on DA, and I pronounced it splendid. Now it is superlative, I guess. Hurrah.

Excellent results. Yep, I always say, save everything, even sketches, most of my work is from old sketches resurrected. This is a great piece, I like it.
