Description
Not representative of the whole city, obviously, but it's quite a classic view. The Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) at sunset, with the christmas tree all lighted up. The tree also briefly plays christmas songs every 30 minutes throughout the night, which is nice. At 9 pm every Saturday they put on a show with fireworks. It's a shame about the grey clouds, really, but not much I can do about them. D:More pictures from this shoot will be gradually uploaded for the next few days.

Parece que só sendo daqui pra saber que essa vista clássica não representa a cidade inteira. Eu fico entediado de ver mais do mesmo em questão de fotografia, mas essa foto ficou muito, muito boa. As nuvens cinzas fazem um contraste natural muito legal que divide o céu laranja e azul sobre as águas escuras. Ótima foto.

Wow! This is a great shot, but I'd also like to say that I think the gray clouds add more to the picture, in my view. ^-^

this is very beautiful view, i just miss, that you can't see the huge statue

Haha, nice to see someone like you who appreciates my city more than I do myself. It's a beautiful place, but also violent and full of slums (we call them favelas) where people live in extreme poverty... It's got its pros and cons.
As for the statue, it can actually be seen from her apartment to, if you turn about 90º to your right from where this photo was taken.

I think, it is everywhere, that " other people appreciates my city more than I do myself", because if you see some kind of view everyday, and it gets boring, i think it is normal
also i think, that slums are everywhere

I don't really see a problem with those clouds...they add a further sense of "character" to an otherwise blank sky. The mountain peaks to the upper right stand out against them!
I also really like the longer horizontal cropping, which fits the nature of the scene better. It's that bay, the curve of lights and city from left to right and into the mountains, with the Christmas tree and right-side waterfront that captivates the viewers' eyes.
