I don't know how many of my watchers are Avatar fans, but I sure am one! And by Avatar, I'm not talking about those big blue Na'vi's, I'm talking about the animated series 'The Last Airbender' (though not the movie, that pretty much sucked more than most things I've seen).And I am on a Avatar-high right now, since I got the second season (and third, but that has still not arrived) on dvd.
This is my own airbending character Shu that I'm planning to write a fanfic about (but I'm not completely sure I'll post it here since I'm planning to write it in swedish), and even though she's not the prettiest girl by regular standards, I can't help but to think that she's completely gorgeous - and I am specially in love with the burn-mark she has on her neck and left cheek.

I've never really liked that half-bald look on female Airbenders.
Hopefully the Airbender girls from Avatar: Legend of Korra won't have to shave their heads in the future. How else would they get husband to repopulate the Airbender population?

I love the half-bald look on Airbenders! And I SERIOUSLY doubt that airbender monks care if their future wives shave half their heads or not, not to mention that I'd lose all the respect I have for them if they picked their parters based on their looks.
I'm actually a bit upset that you'd say that a woman has to mind how she looks to get a husband.

I was mostly stating it from the stereotypical view of the average teenage boy. So I'm glad you caught that you shouldn't judge from appearances. You know how young boys are, 90% of them want the most superficial thing in existence before realizing that that's not what matters.

I don't know what kind of stereotypical teenage boys you have where you live, but I have never met a guy that specifically said he wouldn't date someone because she wasn't pretty enough. Sure, comment on their looks, but never "She's got a great personality, but she's not good looking enough for me".
I mostly got upset because there are those who would go out with someone only if they found their appearance attractive, and there's a lot of women who think that the only chance they have to get a boyfriend is to be as pretty as they can all the time. So if you're just jesting, then I apologize for overreacting.

Haha well, I can't say they're a shortage here especially when asked. When it comes down to it, they will likely go for something more realistic. But the typical reply I've heard is:
"I want a girl who's hot! Beautiful with large breasts!"
The same goes for some women.
"I want a man who's handsome with beautiful muscles!"
Things that don't exactly apply to everyone which is where my obviously bad joke came from. I know that for me, even if the person is attractive, if the personality isn't pleasant then it doesn't matter how supermodel gorgeous they are. I don't care much for them. Your reaction was normal and it's good that you feel so strongly about the issue so I should be the one to apologize. It was rude of me even if I was joking. Therefore, I'm sorry to have upsetted you.

I'm the same. If someone is supergorgeous, but has a personality that I don't find attractive, then it doesn't matter. After a while I don't even find them attrative when it comes to looks, because the personality shows. Kind of like Hal in the movie Shallow Hal with Jack Black.
Of course I can get shallow too, and if I go out, I'm more likely to go up and talk to someone I find attractive if I don't know them already.

Even with the burn mark she is beautiful I think. And to me the picture shows a story behind it. Very nice

I know right? >.< I knew that they wouldn't be able to make it as awesome as the cartoon, but that movie sucked! They ruined all the characters, not to mention that the special effects could've been much, MUCH better.

Seriously, it's the only movie that I've ever wanted to walk out on because I was so frustrated (except Twilight, but that doesn't really count). Unfortunately I was with my younger sister, so I couldn't just leave her there and I had to watch the whole thing. Even my sister, who was 10 at the time, if even that, said that the movie was just "Meh", and I know she was just trying to be nice.
