...Blue babe below. Finally, a spring show. I'm so done with winter. But look how cute Holly is at her first halter show!

It was the first time Cas had taken Holly off of the grounds at Phoenix Down and she was a little nervous on the morning she boxed the weanling up. There were a few whinnies back and forth between the filly and her dam, and then all was quiet and settled for the long journey. Holly was a little unsettled and a bit sweaty when they unloaded, but not unduly stressed, and took in her surroundings with the eyes of a horse much wiser and older than she. The busyness of the grounds and the vast number of horses distracted her from thoughts of her mother and the rest of her herd, and after a quick wash to remove the sweat spots and a flurry of show sheen, she was ready. She marched closely behind Cas, big black eyes judging the competition quietly, tail lifted and steps light as she followed the human who'd been imprinting on her since the day of her birth. The brisk spring air made her lively, and she walked and pranced gently next to her handler with a loop in the lead rein, barely a twitch of tension keeping them bound together. Cas couldn't help but grin at that. Months of trust exercises and bonding had all accumulated in this moment.
