My first Holiday artwork this season. Took roughly three weeks to complete with fifteen to twenty minutes a day (though today I spent three hours.) Lots of whining and complaining about not being able to draw and the likeβ¦XDIvan Braginsky - Axis Powers Hetalia (APH) - Soviet Russia / Russia
I come from Europe and one of the recurring themes that I saw in St. Nikolaus was a wandering man who brought gifts on the birth of the Savior Typically dressed in a bright red cloak trimmed with ermine (a royal fur..), with various other bits of dress and carrying the Bishops (Shepherds) Crook. Where he comes from is as generalized as the flakes of snow, but my favorite one has always been either St. Nikolaus from Germany, or Ded Moroz from Russia.

In the Netherlands, Sint Nikolaas is a bishop who comes from Spain 
It's so interesting to learn of all the different kinds of stories of Saint Nicholas. I've even heard of one where he rides around on an old donkey (I think that might have been Spain's? I need to reread^^). The only one I really can't stand is the American Santa Claus >.> It feels too fake to my liking.
Enough of that, on to the artwork! I like the pastelly background, it gives a place to the subject, but doesn't distract you. I'd recommend looking at a few references of hair blowing in the wind, generally it's softer and more whispy than the way you've portrayed it here. I like the way you colour, too. Russia's looking great :3
