Description
We may have been knocked down..but we're slowly picking ourselves back up. This a picture of our faith in both ourselves and in our beloved America. The flag is wedged into a telephone pole that snapped in half and was part of the horrible scene of devestation.
This picture is of an afflicted area in Alabama. While these pictures are painful, and devastating, they are not the worst of the storm. I was allowed in only because I was a Red Cross Volunteer and got special permissions to take these pictures.
This is all along one road and it is terrible to see the lives of people just blown over roads and fields, and it hurts my heart to remember the many doors propped on their sides with numbers spray painted over them in red paint detailing the number of fatalities each house suffered.

A very powerful image. I live in Montgomery but I know people who got hit. One of my former high school teachers owned a business that got blown away. My uncle had a new house that got blown away too. Thankfully they were alright though.
