Coral couldn't smell the creatures in the mist, and they had never met anything without a smell. It did not make them happy at all. Skeldr did not always share Coral's uneasiness and vice versa, it was what made them a great balance when exploring new areas, but something about these creepy critters bothered her, too. So, when they lost them in the dark of the cave, they were both relieved, but when they found them again, lurking under the sunken ship, they ran. They ran until they came upon an exit, then Coral slithered from Skeldr's back, sized up, and hissed at it, trying to slow it down so her herd mates were able to escape.

Skeldr slowed, unwilling to leave Coral behind. They had been traveling together long enough now that Coral was like family. They had been through enough now that she would not leave Coral behind. As Coral's body enlarged she felt it - magic. She had been able to feel it ever since the landslide that had united their little herd. Something about the lightning zipping across the clouds, the thunder dogging on the heels of light, the crack that had sent Skeldr over the edge had cracked something open in her. She could not do anything with it, only sense more than she could before. Now, free of the mist, she agreed with Coral. Something about this creature was strange, creepy, wrong, they couldn't have it follow them out of the cave.

Time to get the heck outta that cave! Perhaps it was a gateway to the spirit realm?
Skeldr's Jormungungar is so much fun to imagine and illustrate hehehe~
Luckily there was more than one access to the cave, but how are they going to fit out of that opening?

Skeldr's mismatched little herd has their own mixed media story including literature stories, illustrations, and comic pages!
