In which something important is revealed and where the artist is trolled by a crazy magician.
I went more than a little bit overboard with the backgrounds on this page-set. (Will I ever learn.)
It was fun trying to work with a single light source and the reflections. Really pleased how some of these panels turned out.
Also had to use the yubria-curse. The idea was too interesting to resist.

The yubria-curse was also an interesting take since her face was gone and I tend to hide mine.

The connection is very interesting.
I was actually originally make Murmeli make the mask to stick to your face, but then I had this idea and thought it was more interesting, so I went with that.
I actually have an alternative version of the mask-turned-around panel. It turned out to be too difficult to draw the way I wanted, so I changed the camera angle. Warning: it's really creepy. sta.sh/0s4cgycxa7

Hopefully you recognized the dark pink one in the middle. That artist should look... familiar.
The tiniest is supposed to be Liz. She is a bit too tiny to recognize in there though except for her color.
I probably shall not ever learn. I keep adding panels with more and more complex backgrounds to the layout sketches. The next page-set is going to be hard. ^^'

Backgrounds are probably the biggest pain, but worth the effort in the end. They really take it to the next level.

Whoa, that was SPOOKY! I may need to catch up on this dude's comics so I have a better idea of what's going on with his mask. Also dangit, your little dream world is eerily similar to my 'visions' of the captured artists in my comic XD COINCIDENCE? (Probably.)

Good that it felt spooky. It was the atmosphere I was looking for.
I mostly make references to Sircyodnad rounds 3 and 4 in here, so those are good ones to start. His rounds are epicly long and require some concentration to follow, but really good if you put your mind into it.
Probably a coincidence. Can't remember exactly similar scenes in the other rounds or tournaments. The captured artist is a theme that is common in AatR anyway. ^^'

Good to know. I was a little lost on his audition and first round, so I haven't gotten too far into his storyline yet.
XD Of course, of course, I only tease. It is indeed a familiar theme for all this. I was just amused that we had similar ideas on what it would look like: white outlines for people stuck in bubbles with funky umbilical cords. Too bad my story is set in AATR2, or I could have totally referenced this page in my story! Ah well, twas not to be.

Well, AatR universes for different tournaments aren't that different. The main difference is the Real falling apart, but it tented to do that in the AatR2 too. ^^'
