Description
I went to San Francisco recently and we managed to visit Fishermen's Warf in the evening. It was challenging taking pictures of the sea lions. I fiddled with the aperature settings and shutter speeds and made sure to rest my camera against the wooden railings so the pictures wouldn't be affected by a shaking hand. This is one of the lovely shots that night. It was melancholy... as if we're not sure who/what is doing the encroaching... the sea lion upon civilization, or civilization on the sea lion. Either way, I found it eerie that something so wild could be staring at and sitting close to a house (I think that's what that is...).

Awesome. It would have been so cool to see a sea lion like that. I've never seen one, unless I was at the zoo. And that was years ago.
I have that problem with my camera as well. It makes me sad because I'd love to take pictures in the dark. Could you tell me how you fixed the shutter speed on your camera?

I think I set it to either it's highest or lowest setting, because that affects the lighting. I really just switched between aperture and shutter speed to see which would give me the best lighting, and then compared that with the length of time it took to take the picture. The fact that it was resting on something helped, and I only had to worry about the initial push on the shutter button and physically releasing it.

Ah. All right. I'll have to try that.
But you know what sucks? I went up to the mountains over the weekend and was taking all kinds of pictures in nature, like I love to do, when I fell into the creek. Yeah, so I have to see if I still have a warranty on my camera and then get a new one. It's malfunctioning like crazy, but I saved my pictures and can still take pictures if I have patience enough(which is unlikely).
