Citrinekit was born on a warm new-leaf day with his littermates, Amberkit and Goldkit. Amber and Citrine were very close, and they liked to play fights a lot, Goldkit was calmer and preferred to be alone or hearing the elder's stories. Citrinekit and Amberkit were waiting for the day that they would become apprentices since they opened their eyes and both longed to become great warriors that would make their clan proud, while Goldkit began to stay in his nest for longer. Despite not thinking alike, Citrine and Amber loved their brother. But one day, Gold was not in his nest as usual. A queen told them that he was in the medicine den, and that he was not feeling very well. Citrine and Amber went to the medicine den and saw him, lying down, weak and thin, while the medicine cat tried to give him some strange herbs. They tried to get closer but another cat told them to come out... They had no idea that this would be the last time they would see their brother alive.

Citrine and Amber became apprentices, but the sudden death of their brother still haunted them inside. Everything changed when a second litter of their siblings was born, but sadly two of them were stillborn. The only kitten that was born healthy was named Shinekit.
