I remember saying that if I do a ref within the challenge again, it's kind of the last resort. Um, weeell, it happened that last weekend I started to sketch Alejo - just a little, in advance, sort of. But immediately I felt the mad urge to finish the ref before the end of this week xP
I've wanted to do it for really long, and constantly felt disappointed because of the realization I shouldn't start before finishing Bernhard's ref. Plus last week I made a plan in which Alejo wasn't included... (I was expected to do a trade piece this week, but I didn't! I'm so sorry, believe me, I'm gonna fix this immediately!) But then I received this amazing art piece (Alejo ) from Irenetall and, well, in general, I succumbed to this provocation, lol. So have Alejo's reference now!
Basic information.
Full name: Alejo Ignacio Matias Torres
*Species: long-eared jumping mouse, which is fictional and is positioned as endangered in the project
Ethnic/Nationality: Mexican
**Religion: raised in Catholicism, he rushes between Christianity and Paganism throughout the plot
Sexual orientation: heterosexual/heteroromantic
***Status: not married at the beginning of the story
UPD 2021. I plan on creating another reference for this guy sooner or later. He's become the main character of his own story.

certainly, when it comes to Alejo, he is both fascinating and intimidating at the same time. His relatable nature probably stems from all the things he went though, which are in all honesty things no living being should go through. The way it shaped his future life is in fact rather tragic, as he went down a dark path himself. At least, despite certain implications about it, there is one being he can trust. He is probably hard to define as either good or bad, and more as someone who became victim to circumstances. Honestly, many would be broken after such an experience.

Yeah, after his role stopped being episodic, I pursued the goal of making him a complicated character who wouldn't be easy to define as an antagonist for all 100%. Being honest, despite his job I can't even make myself have a proper attitude to him as to a criminal. Kind of, I should feel sorry for Alejo and have a negative esteem for his acts at the same time, while in fact I feel only the first of the mentioned, and maybe even some admiration towards his loyalty to his sister, even though this isn't a healthy feeling. I guess, I should work on my attitude to Alejo because otherwise there is a risk of giving him a wrong image in the context eventually, and a bigger role than he should have. Kind of, even though it's better to have characters with polyhedral nature, all having something good and something bad, it's still necessary to give them clear roles, negative, positive or neutral.

I love how elegant he looks in the suit despite "making an impression of a wild and unruffled person"
I mean, it looks like he presents something totally opposite of his style

Oh man, I still remember how we tried to find a suitable voice for him together with AyrinSiverna , it took us a few days for sure. But it was her idea to use voices of the characters of FC3 for the Matias 
Although my first idea was to give Alejo a very low voice, like the voice of Jyrki from the 69 Eyes band, particularly in the songs "Devil's", "Framed in Blood" or "Lost Boys". I must admit though that Dennis fits a lot more, as his voice is very close to the way I hear Alejo's voice in my head
Oh, and about the suit: I must admit that I wouldn't have come to the idea of his suit without the help of Johnny-Ether :'D He didn't really do anything himself, haha, it was just that I made a meme a while back where he suggested to draw Alejo in fancy clothes, and since then I've kept this idea as canon xDD

Wow! That did take a lot of research! But characters' voices from FC3 are a good choice because you can hear so many dialects and accents! That's one of the aspects I loved about this game! X3

And that kind of charater is more like south of the country ... be cause Monterrey is not so common a character of this kind is more like places like Oaxaca, Quinatana Roo,.... realy looks like some one of Sinaloa

Idk, are you sure that a century ago the situation was the same? Plus I have mentioned that in his blood there's something of a jerboa, so idk. I also had to consider his species and its natural habitat, you know.

Well yeah you are right.... a century ago we are in the fucking revolution.... and its true the people of Monterrey can kick asses like boses. Well Monterrey, had ever been full in inmigrants ... every kind of people to nazis to indigenas... so is a really weir place to live

In addition:
1. I didn't say anywhere about where Alejo's ancestors were from. We can only guess that maybe they could be from the Southern part. Or maybe his ancestors were related to Aztecs which became the reason why he chose particulary an Aztec Eagle for his tattoo. Seriously, I don't think that birth place is in any way connected with nationality. People tend to move from place to place. I have a couple Arabian friends who were born here in Moscow, Russia, but this doesn't mean they look like Slavs. Or you can remember plenty of famous "white" people from Australia, while native-born Australians are dark-skinned originally.
2. Alejo spent several years suffering in captivity and then leading a stray way of life, literally in the street and in the wild. I don't think that in this case he would care about his appearence, if you got confused with his long hair and outfits. Let a Mexican spend several years wearing all the same and not cutting his hair, and I believe he won't look very different from Alejo, haha.
3. As mentioned, he has something of a jerboa, particularly the four-toed jerboa that is an Egyptian animal. It isn't difficult to remember how Egyptians depicted themselves, not meaning hair or outfits, but the face type in general.
Kind of, I really accept the fact that I may be wrong, sincerely, but currently I don't see that many reasons to think so.
I picked exactly Monterrey for his birth place for some certain reasons connected with his father's and uncle's business (kind of, Alejo's family wasn't destroyed just because, there vere some particular reasons), plus I needed a place that would be strategically suitable for some events that I'm afraid I can't share at the moment as this is a spoiler.
I must say that it's rather disappointing that many things can confuse people just because the explanation isn't given for the "spoiler" reason. This often makes me sad because I can't get rid of the feeling I'm creating an overly complicated thing that people will get only in the very end, and till then I must be prepared to being considered an idiot.

Thank you so much! I have a mad urge to keep doing them, but I need to do some other things now, unfortunately. I'm going to keep sketching for next refs though, just most likely a new one won't appear earlier than two weeks later xP
