My, my, my-I like the look of this.
The colors are beautiful, especially the sky behind the trees. The dragon looks pleased to be dining on the juicy unicorn, so you got the expression nailed down.
The mood is something I really just like about all this, the day is nice and pretty and yet a grisly scene of a predator about to eat is happening.
Going to be honest though, I happen to like the first version more just because it looks a lot more deathly and the glowing effect is stronger on the dragon's fiery feet.
However, this art has more to offer as there are more textures placed in and more scenery for the eyes play around with.
I think what you should do is work more on your textures. The usage in this improved the scenery a lot and with a bit more polishing, the scenery can be even better! The tree leaves probably bother you because they look like they are made of cotton. That isn't really a bad style choice but if you want your tree leaves to look more like leaves, I'd say experiment with the brushes, and/or paint in each set of leaves separately. Looking up references on the leaves and how they fit onto the trees would be good to look over too. previews.123rf.com/images/clau…
The added brush strokes to represent grass is ok but it looks unfinished. Add more to it, and it should make this pop! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

You can probably make up another brush for this too. There are also techniques you can use to represent the grass a little better if you want.

On the dragon's head, I was wondering is that a hole or a gem?? If it is a gem, you should put some shine on the middle part to show it as such.
That's my critique on this. Each take on this is cool, so I'm wondering how the third part will be! ^^

Hey thank you for the critique
Yeah I really suck when it comes too drawing backgrounds ^^" Havnt done that for years and now im getting the bill for that. I will look for another few brushes...I think I drew the hole picture with 5 brushes...that might have been a bit too less.
And many people talked about " the dragon" by now ^^", but it accutually isnt one. I dont know if the word nightmare is correct but it is the direct translations for "Nachtmahr", what is a german word and means a unicorn wich horn was stolen. Now its wandering around there. I wanted too make it look more like a predator, thats why his whole body changed. But yeahs it turned out dragon like ^^"
Im not shure when I will have time to get into this work again, got a few drawings in the queue already, but I think after that I will try again, maybe my background skills ill be higher at that point

Its not really how many brushes you use so much as which are the right ones needed I guess. There's some pictures that can be done with just 2 to 3 brushes so eh. xD
Never heard of that creature. I've read up on a lot but did not see this one. That explains the hole on the head. I tried right now to look up more about it but got "13 Shades of Unicorn" instead and I ain't too curious about touching anything that rhymes with "50 Shades of Grey" lmao. That unicorn really sounds cool too. Well changing the body wasn't a bad idea but like the lack of hoofs and the face shape being more lizard-dragon-ish is why people don't make the connection. If people getting confused is bothersome, I'd recommend just designing it slightly, like the snout and claws. Though you don't really have to if you don't want to.
Yeah never know.
Take your time. I feels ya on having a couple of ideas waiting to get finished.

Alright, let's start off with the good things.
Anatomy is really solid. The creatures have a believable body look and the look of the unicorn is especially good considering the angle it's at.
Shading is exquisite. You really nailed the dark, foreboding look. The light showing greater detail on the dragon's head but its body being significantly darker is a great touch!
Linework is also good. Really smooth and defined.
And now for the bad things.
Background is really lacking. While the characters in the front have distinct depth, the trees behind them do not. I cannot tell the size of them in comparison to the characters because of how 2D they look. They also don't have the same lighting source you applied to the characters.
The grass looks strangely like shag carpet. With so much detail in the figures, the grass texture looks really out of place.
The fire around the feet of the dark creature kind of draws away from its face, which I assume is the centerpiece of what the eye should be drawn to. But the fire feet are simply to distracting. Darkening it a bit or making it smaller might do the trick. You might also want to use a different brush tool to get a more fiery affect. As it is now, it sort of looks like fur.
Hope this helps!

Hoi I'm from project comment, first of all AAA this is so good, and scary, it kind of reminds me of that seen for Harry Potter, ya know? Any way, this drawing is almost masterfull! But there is just one nit pick thing, the eyes have a somewhat lack of detail compared to the rest of the drawing, but that is a small nitpick. You have the talent of a great artist <3 <3 you should keep up the work, like I know I'm beating a dead walrus but you have real talent! You should keep up the work. <3 e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I love the design of the dragon - there are so many details that feel super unique and interesting.
Btw, leaves can be a pain to draw indeed, have you tried using a custom leaf brush for them?

That's ok, it took me quite a while to get used to such brushes myself, used to do everything with a simple round brush and it took FOREVER. A custom brush can really cut your time. The results can look kinda weird and artificial at first but if you do a bit of normal overpainting on top it can look quite good. What program are you using?

Have you tried these ? I'm not 100& sure the set has a leaf brush but I think it does. I've been using it for a bit. In case it doesn't let me know, I will check out some of the other sets I have. (sorry I'm not checking it myself, currently struggling with a half blown monitor, which makes everything a struggle)

I´m from
OH, GOD!It is shocking what you did.
A white unicorn is about to be devoured by a kind of dark dragon-horse, without a doubt it is something that in my life I would never have imagined.
Compositively, this is great. The designs of both creatures are great, they give for concept a luminous contrast, a bestial range of details and expressions and especially the dark creature, in which it is simply phenomenal.
The background is too tetrico and with a range of natural colors, gives perfect with the touch that you want to give: A visually gothic show.
You did a great job
