Description The first digital piece I ever drew was a mermaid but I lost the picture. So I wanted to retry drawing one and im really into orcas so I went with those two. I did not draw much in the last month because I was a bit demotivated but this piece really made me motivated again to work on some new paintings and ideas ^^

Beautiful!  If mermaids existed, I could see this really happening.   You did a great job on the quality of your work too!

Really beautiful, the composition of colors is uniquely reflects two free spirits, hidden from the destruction of the real world.

I love the ocean very much (even though sometimes it scares me), and the mythology, this drawing represents very well the freedom, not having ties and being free with your surroundings.

The ocean hides several secrets, secrets that we will only know if we know how to live.

The composition of the mermaid is perfect, with that beautiful blue color and that beautiful hair, which makes me think of a princess of a magical place, the orca looks very good, especially because of the blurring of its tail and its reflecting gaze tranquility..

It is very difficult to find good drawings of marine animals or hybrid creatures of the sea, but this drawing got it in a perfect way, especially by those reflections of light in the water and shades.

The corals are in beautiful, which have a good effect of brightness that gives the feeling that they are moving smoothly with the singing of the soul.

The only thing I do not like very much, is the expression of the mermaid, it looks serious, but I like that realism in his face, in short, it's perfect

Hello there!

I'm from and I a here to give you some constructive critique on your artwork!

I always start with my overall impression of the piece.

In my eyes, this is a pretty good artwork. The scenery is very well 'captured', you chose a nice composition, the colours are all realistically blue with the light touch of reds and greens on the bottom and the contrast is top notch (I'm looking especially at the dorsal fin of the orca in relation to the white saddle beneath). On the first view, it looks well done.

However, I can spot some things I think would be nice to add or could be improved. I'd like to talk about the mermaid and the orca on their own.

Starting with the mermaid, I'm of the opinion that she is the best part of your image. I like her very elegant pose, the wavy fins and hair and the shine of her fish-part of body. I, personally, am not a friend of this expressionless look on her face, even though it is very well done, I might add. Emotions add a lot to an artwork, it would be nice to see what she'd think about this. Is it her first trip with an orca? Does she have fun, feel amazement? We could learn a lot about her character and her relation to this animal.

Furthermore, I think those scales on her body could have been refined some more so they look less smudgy and actually like a fish tail but that is a very time consuming task and I think you thought the same when painting this, so I won't criticize that part of the image :3

The orca is the biggest part you could improve on, I think. First, the body seems to bend in an unnatural way from the fin to head. At the underside, it bends straight up and the upper side slight inwards, making it appear a lot thinner around that region and sort of getting in the way of the perfect stream-lined form an orca has. Other than that, I believe the dorsal fin is located closer to the head (about 2/5th of the whole body) and the eye(s) actually are either on or slightly above the white line dividing the upper head from the jaw and belly side.

And a little tip, I give you is to use a very soft brush for the shade on the underside so the form of the orca appears more rounded. I'd suggest you not to use any soft edged brush to determine those white spots though as the patterns only appear in clearly determined forms.

And yet another suggestion in the end is to use some caustic reflections on the upper side of their bodies to make it even more 'watery' looking.

I hope you found this feedback helpful and I wish you a nice day!

Strikingly beautiful. I could stare at this for hours. I think the mermaid's fingers are a little short for the length of her body but it isn't a very noticeable thing. Incredible job!!!

Hi! I´m from

The first time I saw this drawing I thought it was my imagination. I never thought I would see a mermaid caressing an orca at the same height. Those things are not seen every day.

I also like the game of colored tiles and the white that you have executed and although there are other colors such as the green of the algae, I highlight the first colors since they are the predominant ones and more with those lines so well drawn that they give the sensation of being really drawn on the bottom of the sea.

I also really like the design of the siren, with very realistic features, a proportionally exaggerated design in the fact that the tail of the siren is three times as big as its body and besides that it visually seems heavy in the sense of weighing multiple kilos But more than that, it is not a defect but a virtue since the size of the mermaid's hair balances it perfectly and gives dynamism to it, it does not feel at all static and heavy.

And what about the killer whale? It's Willy

In conclusion, another very good drawing. Willy approves and honors this incredible quality drawing

Hey thank you for the commet

I thought that fishes are kind of just a tail with a head and it makes sense because they dont really need an upper body for much. But a mermaid with justa head would look stupid so tryed to solve it by giving her a massive tail xD

This is an especially beautiful and well-thought-out piece. The first thing I noticed was how the emphasis was centered over the right third (the mermaid’s face and the orca’s white eye patch) which is complemented by the white fins on the mermaid’s tail. This gives the composition a sense of structure.

I also really appreciate how the curve of the orca’s body and the curve of the mermaid’s tail complement each other without being direct repetition.  It’s a little bit of a paradox between repetition and contract and provides solid visual interest. This allows the eye to track over the piece and back again, holding attention for longer than 5-7 seconds.

Another strong point is the limited palette. I love pieces with a limited palette because it enforces not only creativity but the atmosphere in a piece.

Suggestions for improvement: there are no glaring mistakes, faults, or any other defect that I can see based upon my experience as an artist. So, my suggestion for moving forward is to try to create another scene like this but break away from the static left to right orientation. Maybe be adventurous and show the orca on a diagonal, or with some strong foreshortening? Again, this is a suggestion on how to build on the already strong and dynamic work, not a criticism of what is already created here!

I look forward to seeing more from your gallery.

Thank you for the critique!

You really mentioned some interesting points, I not even thought about this when planning the painting, but I guess I should have . I think you really  got me with the "static left to right orientation"..It is a problem I have in a few of my latest drawings and will try to find more dynamic poses and perpectives.

Thanks for the nice comment !
