Hey, everyone! While working on commissions, I decided to let my computer do a little work in the background to see what it might look like if I just fully rendered an entire page of the comic. If you've seen some of my WIP process posts, I don't really need to do a full render to generate the lineart and digitally-colored version on the right, so I'm seeing this for the first time myself. There are pros and cons to both techniques. The render time at print resolution is extreme, but it also takes forever to digitally ink and color an entire page, so the speed factor cancels out. You get lots of extra textures and details in the rendered version, but you get the traditional look of a comic book in the ink/color version. There are exaggerations that I can do with the lineart version that you can't really do with the rendered, but there are special effects that I can do with rendering that can't be recreated in lineart. The lineart looks like an American comic, while the rendered looks like something experimental you might see in a European comic.

Personally, I'm still leaning towards the one on the right. It's more labor, but I think it's worth it.
