Searching "My little pony" on a certain pornographic site gets 30211 hits. At ~3,000,000 views per episode I think the stats speak for themselves. Not to mention the FIRST 4 suggestions when searching "MLP" on a popular image propagation site "Mlp Hentai, Mlp Porn, Mlp sex, Mlp Rule 34"
(And if you want some stats to sink your teeth into one of the above searches gets 82,000 hits. That's about 1 in 36 viewers CREATING 'Art'.)

Yes, I know the law. Yet MLP is the only franchise I've seen sexualised to this extent. It's one thing for porn to exist of something, it's another for every copy-past background filler to have a devoted fanbase. I have not to this day seen anything like this happen to any other show.

Searching "Pokemon_x_and_y" on various popular R34 sites heeds no results. Binging "Rule 34 PokΓ©mon x and y" gets youtube videos. Image binging "Rule 34 PokΓ©mon x and y" gets you an image titled "Rule 34 (My Little Pony: Friendship is sexy)"
And if you're gonna pull that "Most of us aren't like that" bullshit then I shall remind you that the first hit on google is 4chan's /mlp/ board. FTR Google results are sorted on popularity. So the mass of bronies ARE the damaged that visit that site. Look at the threads that are popular there: that is the mass of bronies, and that is what they want.

A character just being in shot in the back of a crowded hall does not make it interesting. And I'm not talking about vinyl. Yet the community still insists on naming every single fucking one.
As for pokemon: comparing a RPG that was adapted into an anime that's been running for over 16 seasons with just as many films and 750+ episodes, all just as long as FIM (which is younger than this decade) to said glue franchise is Ludacris. Seriously, PKMN season 1 has more episodes than have been produced for FIM.
And you act surprised when people recognise the characters as something more then filler art?
Of the last ~750 episodes you could have dedicated more than 1 to every character who spoke a word, not to mention the detailed info listed in all the RPGs.
So yeah, for a franchise with over 100x as much OFFICIAL INFORMATION CREATED BY THE DEVELOPER, NOT BY THE COMUNITY THAT CHUCKS A HISSY-FIT WHEN THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE BLOODY THING DON'T WRIGHT SCRIPTS BASED OF FANFIC, YOU HONESTLY DON'T EXPECT THERE TO BE PORN OF MORE THAN JUST THE PROTAGONISTS?
