Description
very simple delicate falls that was just so breathtaking. there was someone at the top when i was there but i was sitting right at the bottom close enough to feel splashes as it hit the rocks comments welcomedRelated content

Like a veil isn't it. Lovely, great angle and this one looks better zoomed in at the waterfall.

thanks, this was taken much closer to the base of the falls, actually i was so close that i am pretty much zoomed all the way out and was getting spray from the rocks on me. I should have gone around behind the fall and get some shots.

thanks. I love the books i have gotten about the waterfalls in the state. The one i have if you are interested in i can give you all the names and stuff, its great. A lot of these falls listed are not ones listed on maps and as popular sites to go to, just off the beaten path things.

That would be cool. I don't know if it lists them by town or location but between Syracuse, Rome and Utica would be a good area for me to explore. The only other one I know of is Stockbridge Falls. A really small site outside of Oneida. I wouldn't mind driving around looking for places to shoot.

ok here are a few things for you to look into. first here is a website, that has some of the better known falls out there listed on it. [link]
Now the book. This book lists out 200 waterfalls of Central and western ny state and does it by county. So you can just kinda pin point areas around where you are. There is a map in the front that shows Syracuse and such and where the locations are, numbers them so you can go and look them up. There are actually quite a few around the areas you listed above. They will give you directions on how to get there, though kinda vague at times, and all the details like if you have to pay, where you need to park, the trails, how hard they are and such. Its called 200 Waterfalls in Central & Western New York A finders guide by rich and sue freeman. they will also tell you if the fall is low flow at certain times of the yr and when its best to go see them. Which is why the falls i planned for today and didn't get will be next weekend so i get to them while they are still flowing. Hope this helps.

no problem, anything i can do to help someone see some great things. I personally don't think enough people get out to see things like this, but then that might actually be a good thing.

I agree with you on both parts. Of course, not everyone sees through the same eyes we see through. I look at almost everything as a photo. lol

god if i could have found a place to stop.... there were just fields and fields full of dandelions all over today, it was just gorgeous, dappled sunlight on green and yellow fields.

it was cloudy when i got up and was at work, and then it cleared and i was like damn my shots might be washouts, but i still went, and when i got there to each place its like the cloud gods came in and parked over the falls for a while and left when i did. but i am glad i came home when i did. I don't mind rain, i like it actually but when it has thunder associated with it i am out of there. lol

Don't blame you there.. I don't think falls are the place to be during thunder and lightning. I would be outta there too.

well for me i prefer it to be overcast when i go waterfalling, so i can slow down the shutter speed.

yeah it totally washes out the falls. Even if you don't care about how your flow looks, still washes them out. LOL so for me, i hope every weekend is cloudy. But if its not then i plan trips to other places. Like there is green something or other state park not too far down the road from here, might check that out one sunny weekend

It has been so long since I've been there I couldn't really tell you. About the only thing I remember is the huge parking lot and the beach. I wasn't into nature and hiking when I went there. Ahhhh, my wild misspent youth.. Lol.
