Just a sketch, but let me articulate my thoughts...

Not like being a dad either. Being alone gives one the luxury of selfishness, yes?

But then one becomes a parent.

And a real parent never stops worrying for his child's needs, profound and trivial, from her cradle to his grave. Even where words are insufficient to express this, actions make it plain when a parent is a real parent.

Think of the flowers in the picture in the context of this sort of symbolism. It'll make sense then. Suffice to say I saw a picture of Kisa Sohma in Rin's pose and had to expand on it.

If you think it's touching in the anime, take a look at how he takes care of her in the manga. The chapters of InuYasha in the 460's-470's made me cry. No other manga ever has, to give you a rough idea.

They're in modern clothes just because I wanted a change in how to depict them. No more profound reason behind that choice.
