This will never happen in the series' fifth season, Slayers Evolution-R, because as a general rule fantasy and humor animes shy away from delving psychological character development like turkeys shy away from Sarah Palin (lol).HOWEVER I think it SHOULD happen, because family estrangements and reconciliations are messy, complicated, mixed things. If you ever loved someone, it's not so simple to just shut them out and hate them, no matter what they did to you. It's somewhat amazing.
In an rpg with , Rezo (original blind tragic-figure world-healer Rezo, NOT any one of the numerous psychotically evil copies of him) is overjoyed making the assumption that Zelgadiss, his great grandson whom he turned into a chimera, has forgiven him. Zelgadiss hears Rezo make this happy remark out loud and blows a fuse, rushing over to confront him, doing so initially in blind fury, which deteriorates into confusion and tears. Rezo just takes the castigation because he knows he deserves it.
Mah poor pookies lol *hugs em both.* Yes they're in robes, because in the rp scene they're camping after getting wet from an unwanted run-in with mazoku lord Deep Sea Dolphin.
And don't say Zelgadiss never cries because I SAW him do so TWICE so far in Evolution-R

I love how Zel shows his emotional pain through his actions and how he stands and his facial expressions, and all we get from Rezo is the burning emotion in his eyes. He looks so sympathetic; as you said, like he knows he deserves it.
You say these are RPGs with your friend, but are they going to be turned into fics, too, because DAMN, there's some good ideas.

I'm sure working on it lol xD My friends are so clever that sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the amazing plots they inspire! But right now this plotline is something I'm hastily sketching out in a fic at fanfiction.net called Sight Through Spirit, if you ever want to glance at it. I have the same username there as here.

I have to admit I'm a total sucker for stuff like this. I find psychological character development, particularly father/son (or greatgrandfather/greatgrandson) stuff particularly interesting. My old Gargoyle fanfics are full of strained family relations between Acheron and his son (who hates him pretty intensely, actually)
I love how you've captured the emotion of both characters so beautifully.

Also, I thought up an idea that causes Juniper to see Zel as a brother. They're on a ship (kinda like the one in episode 7 of Slayers season 4) and its hit by a bad storm. Juniper gets thrown overboard and pushed down by the waves, Zel uses the raywing, jumps in and saves her. when he does get her on deck, she's not breathing and he has to do CPR (he'd probably get flustered). Juniper wakes up and founds out Zel saved her, thus she sess him as her big brother.
