, Step One of a request by of Prince Zuko and his uncle, Iroh, from the series Avatar, probably the only Western animation to successfully mimic anime, LOL. (Rabid fans, don't shoot me for saying that XD because I will just good-naturedly laugh at you for your silliness...).This is the ColErase underdrawing. Like it, Janet and Janet's sister? Anything different?

I like the faces. Iroh looks comfortable with life and Zuko doesn't... that's about right.

To be honest, I don't like most anime, but I love Avatar. So if anime fans don't want it to be anime, that's fine with me. And this is a great drawing of Zuko and Iroh
I'll be looking forward to the finished version. There's a new club devoted to Iroh and Zuko here ~JasmineDragonTeaShop . Would it be alright if I add this piece to its gallery? Or perhaps the finished version when it's done?

that's great work with the shading of the..eh... smoky stuff around the younger guys arm and the bottom of the younger guys pants look good too, though having the creases continue further up? or stretching more around the knee on the right leg, the left looks fine. Nice work with the muscle tone in his arms too, although again the right arm may need some more attention looking at relative length between the two parts of the arm, if you were trying for foreshortening it didn't quite work, I think, the muscles maybe needed more attention for that. The elderly guy looks great, the detail in his clothes and in particular both guys hair looks very well done

I worked after a Takaya sketch for Zuko's body, and it was a different perspective slightly from his head, despite my efforts, so that may be what is throwing you. I too found the arm too short but wasn't sure how to correct from the original model. Hmm.

I'm determined to finish Renard today (as soon as I finish my mailer) and will scan/upload tomorrow. *salute* Cause the whole point of the requests was to give me something to draw but I'm refusing. o.o What a horrible artist i am haha. I should be drawing 24-7...

Eh, yes and no. Drawing ain't a hobby for me (not saying it is for you either way) it's gonna be my money-maker and way of life as an illustrator. Not only should I draw constantly in order to improve, but I should build up my really tiny portfolio too. Although I don't think I could slip Renard in my port unless I did like an all out acrylic painting lol.

Lol I concur with the mimicking anime thing. Though when I tell folks that Avatar is the only anime I watch, they're like "its not REALLY anime" and I'm like "k" o.o I guess I'm not cultured enough but it doesn't keep me up at night so whatever. XD

Yeah it's actually got a better grasp of frames with lipsynching than anime (yes, I blasphemed and said there are faults to anime XDDDD) so it technically is not...but the eyes are close.

I'm dying on the inside cause I can't watch the finale this weekend but a da'er here (who worked/works on the storyboards for that show) assured me that the eps would be up for rent very very shortly after that. I gotta run to Blockbuster before the world spoils it for me argh. x.x; Or maybe I'll crash at my friend's dorm and sit in front of her tiny 5 inch tv screen for two hours haha. Aw. She'd hate me.

Well as far as content goes, there is some stuff that's Japanese that Americans don't understand XD (at least I don't), so there IS something to an idea of something being authentic.

Yeah, I dunno...I think she's in Canada, maybe thats the difference? >> No doubt Nick will keep the Avatar reruns for at LEAST a year, and surely another network will jump on the reruns as well. I can see cartoon network tackling that like nobody's business...but anyway, you'll find em someday.

You can probably try to find some places where you can watch it online...I have done that before. ^^ I didn't realize it at first, but when I was talking with Karen on the phone about the pic just briefly, I was like, "He kinda reminded me of Draco...and a monkey!" Lol. Although Iroh looks more like a monkey...imo. Lol, funneh. O.O XD
