“ZIRA!”A harsh voice echoed in the dark, sandy cave, causing Zira to growl softly.
“Don’t growl at me cub,” the grey elder female retorted.
“What do you want, Makensi.” Zira glared at the older Lion.
“What’s the matter?” Makensi sarcastically responded, “The MATTER is you!”
Zira stood up, her slender frame dusted in dirt and wavered before sitting down hard.
Makensi watched her with cold eyes.
”Don’t,” Zira said.
“Don’t what? Don’t mention how you are severely underweight and while your pride sisters are recovering from the past, here you lay in this dusty cave, mobbing like a cub, neglecting your child?”
“Nukas fine!” Zira said hotly, “And it’s not just any cave it’s….”
”Scars cave” Makensi interrupted, “I’ve heard this before, Zira and how we are all “traitors” for siding with King Simba.”
Makensi moved closer and grabbed Zira’s face forcing the younger lioness to look her in the eyes.
“Enough Zira, he’s dead, he was toxic and used you! He used all of us, you weren’t special. Luckily for us the new King has allowed us to stay, taken us into the Pride despite us having come here under Scars reign. He didn’t kill you when you foolishly attacked him!”
Zira’s growl was cut short as, Makensi squeezed tighter, eyes blazing with passion.
“Zira you are like a daughter to me, I raised you after your mother died and what I am doing I do out of love,” Makensiks claws pricked Zira’s face,”But love can only do so much…I will not let you sit here and waste away, just because you believe that some arrogant prick of a Lion loved you!”
Zira reached her face away and bared her teeth. Makensi stood tall and meet Zira’s eyes.
“Outside now, Zira. This ends today, don’t make me humiliate you by dragging you out.”
Zira relented, she would play along with Makensi for now.
