Description
That's right, kids, I've jumped onto the Apo 3D bandwagon! Created with the help of [link] this amazing tutorial by ~neoMWH .This is my submission to the Dreams Contest over at *FractalDreams , and I must say that I am quite pleased with it.
I spent a long time working on the concept--two days, the longest than I've spent on a fractal since completing my Apo and UF certificates at Visual Arts Academy. I'm still working on getting my footing with the new hack, so I'll be posting further experiments and whatnot as I work through the tutorials and other resources people have posted.
Prints render is going to take about 56 hours (

What's so amazing about this is that it looks like a real photo and not some CGI fractal. I've been in a bit of a rut lately with Apo; I think it's time to take the 3D hack for a spin.

The 3D hack has the potential to do some very great things; I kinda hit the jackpot on my first try. I use it for all my Apo work now, even when the piece looks more traditionally 2D, just because the controls for rotation are more intuitive.

The change in perspective from your past fracturals is really cool. I'd never have thought of making them 3D. Nice how its blurry in the edges, and clear only in the centre. Quite lovely.

Thanks. I'm not nearly as good with the 3D hack as some others around here--some of the stuff I've seen is absolutely AMAZING.

Wow! That's amazing! Considering I haven't the faintest idea how one even begins to make fractal art, that just looks incredibly complicated. But gorgeous!

This one was a lot more complicated than my normal fractal work, but it was very much worth it.

I love the stuff that people see in my work. To me, it looks almost like a microscopic waterdrop, or somesuch.

That one's really neat! It looks like a bunch of bubbles.

Yeah, bubbles is one of the things Apo3D does *very* well.
