Simple works nicely. In fact, I would blur the crap out of that nebula, and just have one giant glow as a background, might look cleaner, maybe.
If you're going to simplify something, why not go all the way lol.
But that's just my opinion, but you can try it if you want.

The planet is badass! lol. It's funny, usually I'm more focused on the background story, than I am the planets in my art. Bit backgrounds, but for me the story is in the nebula

haha, the overall design took about an hour. and then i spent about 2 hours fine tuning it, and tweaking it.

Any help for painting cracks? I spent hours to make another dark layer over the planet then erased single bit out to make cracks but this way is too freaking slow.

I think i used find edges, and the tweaked it from there.
