Description
Based on the characters and stories created by Walter B. Gibson is a reboot of "The Shadow."

The year is 1918 and Kent Allard is an American pilot during World War I. He and his crew are lost over southeastern Russia and accidentally shot down. Allard survives the wreckage and is taken in by a tribe of Chinese Buddhists known as the Tulku. They nurse him back to health. Over the course of his recovery he is taught meditation and physical powers such as the ability to cloud minds, psychic hypnosis, and invisibility. With these powers, he will use them to fight evil throughout the world.

Allard returns to the United States years later under the alias of Lamont Cranston, a wealthy man about town. No one knows how he rose to fame and fortune but everyone loves him. When Cranston is not living the playboy lifestyle, he fights crime while donning all-black, a red scarf, and calling himself The Shadow. Some of the agents he has recruited are his taxi driver Moe Shrevnitz (David Johansen), newspaper reporter Clyde Burke (Topher Grace), and a unsuspecting secretary known as Myra Reldon (Olivia Luccardi).

Cranston meets a young, beautiful, and curious woman named Margo Lane (Anna Kendrick). He becomes fascinated by the fact that he can't read or manipulate her thoughts. At first, Cranston stays away from her. But Lane is obsessed with Cranston's mysterious demeanor and is eventually told the truth. She assists Cranston on a daily basis, becoming his primary confidant and eventual lover.

Trouble looms however when a psychotic, supernatural entity who identifies himself as Mr. Remorse (Gabriel Macht) is kidnapping, torturing, and often killing his victims. A Dominican medicine man known as Dr. Rodil Mocquino (Javier Bardem) arrives to the United States to form a new religion of voodoo practice. In the process, he gains many followers that he uses to commit crimes and rise to power as a radical terrorist leader against the American government. Mr. Remorse becomes an ally and they combine their powers, calling themselves the Princes of Evil.

It is up to The Shadow and his agents to stop them. Otherwise New York will succumb to their powers of black magic and become the Empire of Evil.
