UPDATE: Made some of the books look different by changing their colours or adding text which resembled the titles of the book. Expect additional updates! This was done using my pixel Linking Book thing. Basically, I looked at the placement of the Linking Books on the burnt out Myst Bookshelf, and came to the conclusion that in happier times, there would have been two of each type of book on the shelf; one would have been the Descriptive Book itself, and the other would have been the Journal about it. So I made this picture of what Myst's Library might have looked like in kinder times.
For a more indepth analysis of this, including my theories as to what some of the "missing" Ages were, as well as which Ages survived Sirrus and Achenar, see this page; [link]
My personal theory is that not all of the ages were destroyed. Cyan has said that Myst (in the game) was not as big as it should be, and there were more Book shelters. Why would Sirrus and Achenar destroy all the ages? Sirrus only wanted wealth, and Achenar things to kill. They burnt the ages to hide the evidence, so any ages that didn't contain these things (such as Selenitic) would have been unharmed, and we know of many such ages from Atrus' notes.
In other words, I think that because of time and money constraints (plus the fact that the game would have been more confusing), many of the books that survived were put on the shelf "burnt" in Myst. Besides, why would the Journals have been burnt (The fireplace book must have been knocked into the flames by accident, and then removed)?
On the shelf (in the game), there are five places where books have been shoved back onto the shelf. My theory is that these were the damaged books, and the others were ages of no importance that survived, such as Selenitic. In some cases, Journals appear to have been shoved back with them. I think that Sirrus and Achenar took these with them so they knew more about the age they were plundering.
So, yeah. This could be quickly customised to draw a picture of what the shelves might have looked like (in other words, different books). J'nanin isn't here for two reasons; One, I didn't know where it would go and it would have stood out in this picture of Myst-only books, and Two, I think that book would have been kept in Sirrus and Achenar's room.
