Description LABELLED VERSION HERE:[link]

EDIT: Map's been updated! Italy required some tinkering, and so I dealt with that. There's still a few things that need addressing - whether or not some borders were in a certain place at this time - but I'll fix those another time. One problem remains; several borders (mainly Austria, Italy and the Confederation) changed repeatedly over the course of several years. It's quite hard to show with tiny pixels, so it's going to need to be addressed later. I plan to put this on the Temeraire Wiki when it comes back online, so I'll add some text descriptions...and a key!

And here it is, after so long; an updated version of my horrendously inaccurate map of the Earth as it appears in the Temeraire series!

Red is Britain
Blue is France
Light Blue is French Client States
Green is Ottoman Empire
Orange is Spain
Pink is Portugal
Light Orange is Batavian Republic
Yellow is China
Purple is Persia
Light Purple is Afghanistan
Red-Purple is Russia
Teal is United States
Brown is Austrian Empire
Pinkish is Prussia
Medium Grey represents any other state
Light Grey represents an unmapped area - in this case, some areas were only tribes, and some had a hell of a lot of kingdoms that were way too hard to draw - mainly West Africa and Borneo. They'll get finished next map!
Two colours means the area changed ownership - it'll make sense with labels.

Wow. I'm impressed, again.

Now it looks much better
Only one thing I'd change is the colours-key - I'd put it somewhere on the map (maybe the Pacific, next to Sth America), so it would be clear which colour is 'red-purple' or 'pinkish' for you

BUT WHY IS SWEDEN WHITE

Eh? It isn't; it's a pale yellow. No reason, just that was the colour I had left when it came to colouring it in.

I'm actually thinking I should make it Dark Grey, cause it's on its own there...although I suppose I'd have to do the same to Prussia. Never mind.

I was just like "It's because we're neutral, isn't it? FOREVER WHITE.", haha.

Interesting.
*Spoiler Book 6*

But shouldn't the top of Australia be yellow?

Yep, I'll fix that shortly.

Also I don't think that Spain controls middle America. Is it mentioned several times in the book that Cortez failed and that the Aztek (or was it Inca?) still exist.

AMCAlmaron In reply to Ixal [2011-09-11 19:40:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that myself. I think it's only been said that the Incans were powerful, so I've put their Empire there, but no others so far. I'll add a disclaimer next edit.

Good thing is that Crucible Of Gold (Book 7) takes place in South America, so we should get some information about the way the land lies.

I already thought that it would go to America with that title.

Still, I would like them to go back to China and England. There are enough things still left there.

Hey, i'm just reading the book 7. May i ask you a thing?
I'm a bit unsure why it's wrote about the Portoguese having "Mexican" dragons, Spanish should have Mexico as colony, right?

Ixal In reply to Kooskia [2013-08-27 20:11:12 +0000 UTC]

It is just speculation, but in one book, I think 4, it is mentioned that Cortez failed to destroy the Aztecs. That would mean that Mexico would not be Spanish colony, at least not  to the extend like it was historically.
As for why Portugal have "Mexican" dragons. No idea. Can you give me the page for where that is said?

Generally the history of North America is very different from the real world as you will see a bit more in book 8.

not read 8 yet ^^ um... tomorrow will check better the pages about the mexican dragons.
It said clearly about Cortez? I was thinking it was just Pizarro that failed his conquest... should re-read that too.
Will do this research tomorrow, easy with pdf files xD (because it needs only to write "Pizarro" or "Cortez" on search's tab)

I was sur it was mentioned in a book way before 7 where Pizarro is mentio ed. But I cant find it.

So either I imagined it or it might have been in a short story or appendix.
