I've had complaints about Rain's text in the past, so I'm trying some different combinations for her here. When I do comics, in my mind the written text represents the character's unique voice, so I try to select fonts and colors based on who's talking, and I try not to make major changes. (I personally don't care for word balloons, because then you have extra objects obscuring the pictures, and you have to fit the words inside the balloon, and then occasionally there can be confusion about which word balloon is pointing at what character...) But this is also a tutorial, and it defeats the point if no one can read it. I think it should be legible at 100% zoom, but I can always provide a plain-text transcript if necessary. The vital parts of the tutorial, though, are spoken by Gumi. Rain is just playing the part of the audience surrogate, so she's making observations or asking questions to prompt an explanation.Part 2 can be found here: www.deviantart.com/amenrenet/a…
