chase the stars. maybe it is
that awkward shyness
of saying hello to someone
for the first time
or the warm feeling
from hugs and held hands.
maybe it means
maybe my wishes will come true,
someday or maybe
it is the sound of the wind
caressing leaves and the lullabies
of wind chimes, or maybe
it is the voice inside your head;
the shade of moonlight and
comets.
maybe 'alyssa' is a synonym
for hopeful and dreaming and
'full of life'. maybe it is the rush
in your ears while running,
the challenge of catching your breath again;
the music of wishing and the thrill
of living.
or maybe my name is just
alyssa
and maybe it only means
nothing.

maybe Alyssa means...weaving ordinary words together into something powerful and breathtaking and beautiful and so-much-more-than-nothing. words from a girl who's known just too much sorrow.

i've also found that the spelling is supposedly influenced by the alyssum flower, it can mean rational, it could be french or germanic and mean noble kind, its a variant of alicia (thats silly), somewhere else it says its greek and means logical, another site says its english in origin and its a variant of alice, now we're back to german and it means truth.
Our name can mean anything we want it to really. The meaning we associate with our name is strictly based on who we are as an individual.
If you feel you are nothing then your name does mean nothing but if you were in fact nothing then you wouldn't exist and you could never have written this beautiful poem THEREFORE your name means something because you are someone. a very important someone. so there. proved you wrong bwahahahaha jk. lol sry i'm crazy...
