That was pretty good for a tank in 1939/1940 until the 8,8cm AT/AA gun showed up! 75mm of flat armor just as effective as the KV-1's armor!

The main difference being that the KV-1 has a bigger gone and was a nightmare for German panzer men.

By that time, few are left and more likely to be the KV-2 assault guns. Instead we have the T-34/76 and T-34/85, backed up by the SU gun series, facing the Tigers, Panthers, upgraded PzIVs, and self-propelled guns. As if that isn't enough, the Soviets introduced their Iosif Stalin tanks, whose 122mm guns put the Tiger to shame.
On the Western side, the Brits realized that the Matildas are going past their prime(gave hell to the Italians though early on) and replacing them with modern designs such as Shermans, Cromwells, Churchills, and such.

It wasn't there this year? That's a shame.

I always loved the colour scheme of the Matilda although I doubt that this specific colour scheme was very helpful in the desert. And in my opinion it is among the most beautiful britisch wwii tanks.

I guess it must have helped to break the shape up when they were in the distance, in the heat shimmer. Thanks for the !

Nice shot! You've managed to make the Matilda actually look quite dynamic.

Yes, every single one of them. Blam! Burning metal corpses littered the public display arena...

Great to see the Matilda in good working order, shame she wasn't Queen of North Africa.

I agree, but sadly German tanks and the blasted 88mm were too powerful for her armour.

This is a very nice view of a Matilda II.
It conveys the robust build, as well as the tiny size!

Thanks MercenaryGraphics! You get such an impression of a vehicle that is very well armoured. It's just so chunky!

Cheers artlovr59! As good as these machines look when still, they certainly come to life when mobile! Thanks for looking!
