Description
It was my friends birthday and I couldn't figure out what to get her, since she likes so many things (Space, sharks, Harry Potter, Video Games...) and I just couldn't find something that could fit what to get her that wasn't stretching out on a limb. I decided that I was going to paint her something.I used watercolors for the background and also used some sea salt for some texture. It was sooo nice to break out my watercolors again, as its been a long time since their last usage. It's the only paint I'm sort of comfortable using as well, and I got some really good ones when I went to Korea like more than 9 years ago. I haven't used them much, so I do suspect they'll make another appearance! The salt is also so much fun to use, but I really overdid it with the amount. My workspace has salt everywhere.
For the stars and constellations I used white acrylic paint, paintbrush and toothbrush. The speckling with the toothbrush definitely helped, as without it it just looked like a mess of color. The moon, person and cartoony stars were done by drawing on a separate piece of paper with pen, cutting them out and gluing them on.
Also a littel thing! The constellation to the very right was SUPPOSED to be Cetus, however my poor planning didn't let it work out too well. Cetus is the constellation for a sea monster, or a shark! My friend loves sharks, so I thought it suited!
And the big dipper to the left because it's the only constellation i didn't need much reference for, except I'm almost certian I messed it up, but whatever.
I gave it to her on monday and I think she liked it! I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I may do another space art time thing again, but I think for now I'll give it a rest and do some other things.
SO EXCITED TO WATERCOLOR MORE AHHH
But quickly
Happy belated birthday, Erica!

It was actually very scary to paint. I just kept slapping colors on the paper and sometimes it'd look right and other times not so much. I just kept going and it wasn't until the little flecks of paint where I thought that things were finally going right.
I remember looking up the constellation and I thought it was so perfect.
The toothbrush was a technique that I pulled from those art shows catered for kids. I think this one in particular was called "art attack". God I loved that show.
And thank you!
