Description
A pair of sinister polycephalids crouch among the supporting struts of a derelict canopy, watched nervously by a distant grazing herd. Tiny photosynthetic aeolis flutter weakly in the sun, a sparse remnant of the vast colony that inhabited the living canopy. Another canopy looms on the horizon.ΒSinisters, named for the unique position of the killing head on the left side of the body, come from a large and successful group of asymmetrical polycephalids (thought to form a clade with the other asymmetrical polycephalids before the discovery that asymmetry had evolved many times on Tath). The left head specializes in capturing and restraining prey, while the right is ferociously exaggerated for killing and dismemberment.Β

Still learning the whole photoshop thing. And the whole backgrounds...thing. I'll take a leaf out of 's book and take cringing at my own work as a sign of ongoing improvement. Comments and criticism welcome

I see what you were doing with the background. It may be that the clouds are too distracting. And there's some problem meshing the close- middle- and far grounds...? Aha! The problem is the trees on the right side of the picture don't look as far away as the herd on the left, even though they are on more or less that same horizontal plane, which is usually a signal that they should be the same distance from the viewer.

Yeah there's definitely a problem with perspective there. And do you mean to say you *don't* see what I was doing with the background?
Thanks for the constructive crit!
Edit: Nevermind, I think I got it.

i like this, background and allΒ (most cameras I've seen, if the foreground is in focus (allowing that much detail), the background will always be at least a little out of focus)
very novel organisms, with an interesting natural history.
hope to see more of this world, if possible.
