“A Brief Commensalism”

Tyrannosaurus rex, Trierarchuncus prairiensis, generic enantiornithine bird. An acrylic painting of a flock of Trierarchuncus staying close to Helushka, the T.rex, utilizing him as a bodyguard as they weave their way through the shrubbery.

Inspired by some wonderful online photos by Danny Wu of David Krentz’s Regina Mundi and that online video of a lady jogging with a flock of Reeve’s pheasants through the woods, I wanted to showcase Helushka interacting with other fauna in his world in other ways besides being a marauding apex predator. The Trierarchuncus are sticking close to him as he would not bother trying to eat them given their size and his mere presence keeps the smaller predators away.

Completed in mid March 2024.

Done using acrylics, color pencils, inks, and Photoshop 2021.
