“Impasse: In the Shadow of the Colossus”

Tyrannosaurus rex, Alamosaurus sanjuanensis. An acrylic painting of my Tyrannosaurus, Helushka, trying to deter a huge Alamosaurus as they are both forced together by a seasonal wildfire (that is burning itself out in the background).

This is the latest iteration of my “Impasse” idea, one that more or less is the closest rendition to my original idea from 2018, in terms of the composition and lighting. This is also one of the largest analog paintings I’ve done over the years (at about 30"x 40" inches). While I usually utilize acrylic paints for my analog paintings, I used a little bit of white oil paint for some of the beams of light passing through the clouds.

After this, I will be posting some upcoming pieces I have been working on in the buildup to Halloween 2022.

Completed in late September 2022.
