"Pardonne Moi?"

Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops porosus. An acrylic painting (with a digital background) of a seasoned adult Triceratops hassling a subadult female Tyrannosaurus who was minding her own business.

The idea for this illustration originated back in the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown, after I saw a digital sculpture by Cheung Chung Tat of a Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops confronting each other. What I found interesting about it was the pose of the Tyrannosaurus, which looked like it was perplexed by the Triceratops’s reaction. It almost looked like it was saying, “Excuse me?”

I sketched out the initial drawings in my sketchbook, scanned and combined them in Photoshop, printed it out to the required size, transferred the drawings to an appropriately sized illustration board, painted it, then scanned and added a background in Photoshop.

I gave it a very rudimentary background and foreground in the vein of The Mountain Apparel tee shirts I like to wear.

Completed in early July 2020.
