Description Just returned from visiting my sister in Indonesia. She lives near an Orang Utan rehabilitation centre. This beautiful creature is undergoing rehabilitation after serious abuse at the hands of human owners. She will hopefully be reintroduced to the jungle once she has learnt to survive in the wild.

North Sumatra, Indonesia. October 2008

Yes hunnie... With 109 native species of primates, Brazil is the country with more diversity of monkeys in the world.
Since the beginning of the last decade, there are 13 new species found in Brazilian lands, ten of those in the Amazon. Last two news discovered in 2002 they are: Callicebus and Callicebus stephennashi Bernhard (Bernhard nice and beautiful monkey monkey Stephen Nash).

Main usual here in south brazil(less species kive here in south) main usual to see into the forest regions are: Callithrix penicillata (Sagüi-do-pincel-preto), Callithrix jacchus (Sagüi-do-tufo-branco), Cebus (Sapajus) nigritus (Macaco-prego), Alouatta caraya (Bugio-preto), Alouatta guariba clamitans (Bugio-ruivo).
Here in Porto Alegre city capital of my state a city in where live 3.959.807 habitantes…exactly at south side of the city at the MORRO DO OSSO or “ BONE HILL” living a lot of them:

I can pass hours and hours observing them…I have collect and live lots of fantastic stories about this monkeys during my life.well we have not oranges and chips that I think are so nice too.

Well I knew Brazil had lots of monkies in truth. Its pretty famous. but its fabulous to read what you have to say about YOUR experiences! Thank you! I love monkies too! I was born in the year of the Monkey - so I feel a great afinity to them! But THat is normal for humans I think. Closest relative and all.

I'm so fascinated to visit SOuth America one day and see the monkies. I read a wonderful book recently which described/imagined how the primates split apart from Africa over to South America back when the continents where closer to each other. So the crossing was possible!? And how since then they have taken a different evolutionary developmental path, Apes primates and monkey primates. VERY interesting! I love it! And you know SOOOO much!
