Hi everyone,

This is my entry for the Master Study to Original (MS2O) June Challenge - 'Mood masters', organized by MasterStudiesAndMore . The painting is inspired on Burg Eltz in Germany, as captured by photographer Dennis Schmetz and published in a magazine of the Deutsche Bahn a few years ago.

In this watercolor painting, I tried to create a gloomy mood by using desaturated colors and having soft and lost edges. I think I should have darkened the clouds and castle a bit more, to further reduce the contrast of values though. Maybe I'll still give a few glazes more to try it, and specially darkening the top of the castle to have the hazy look at the bottom - building on the feedback I got today on my study - thanks Sekemolados and Seanash101 ! Please let me know if you have suggestions for improvement of this one everyone!

This painting follows my study of Joseph Zbukvic's painting Princes bridge, Melbourne. He is a living master of mood and atmosphere.

In addition to this "castle in the mist" gloomy version, when I have time I will try to create a more sunny-day brighter version of the "castle" painting, but still making it more moody than the original painting I am trying to improve.
