Step 3 looks like it could be a woodcarving.

There's a layer with just flat colours, and a couple of adjustment layers where I airbrushed more colour, and a layer of a gradient wash over everything. It sounds complicated, I see why you are confused. :b

Some of this [link] and some of this [link] :]
Takes a bloody long time and it's all about one big smooth motion for your line. One line, one movement, don't go back to it.

Yeah, but be patient with yourself, and don't hate the initial results too badly - like I did, haha.
It could also help to try it out with an ink and brush first, to steady your hand and improve hand-eye coordination, though I never did that... oops. >>

Hey, that's a really nice start. :]
The hardest thing for me has always been balancing wide open spaces with more intricate and detailed parts of the composition.
I think as you keep going you will develop an eye for where you want to place the weight, where you want your viewer's eye to linger, and where the lines will point. Your style doesn't seem to be very line-heavy, so maybe you'll even get bored and get back to what you initially liked doing. :b I know I find myself doing that all the time.
By the way, I'm very pleasantly shocked that I inspired someone! :]

I'm sure you have inspired more people, I just was the first one in telling you.
The weight situation is something that always have been a problem for me, even when I'm painting.
Thank u for the advice :3 keep doing your thing n__n

I am now looking forwards to my own more than ever~
If I could look over your shoulder as you do this I might drool and embarrass myself in happiness.
