Description
Snake-Tongue for Poser and DAZ-StudioUnfortunately all known snake-models for Poser/DAZ are coming without a tongue or only some tiny thing with no or only very restricted morphs.
This little add-on comes as an independent and fully posable character with 24 bones and can be fit to every snake-model or other figures (dragons, monsters, creatures, characters) in Poser or DS. It comes as the usual runtime-folder.
More info about posing, parenting etc. you will find in the "readme.pdf" that comes with the ZIP-folder. Have fun!

The perfect little extra for the snake, for fantasy renders and... and... and...!!! Thank you so much for your effort!

Glad you like it... it has still some flaws, e.g. it poses only very slowly when you try to pose it with the Active-Pose tool of DS. I didn't found out now, what happened here.

Glad you like it! Have fun with it. It's very simple done and without this Easy-Pose-Dials (i still didn't find out how to create them), so it may be a little bit difficult to pose it right.

This is fantastic!!
Absolutely brilliant!
I recently did a snake image without the tongue (for the obvious reasons)[link] , but I'd mentioned in the description that I missed having the tongue in the image; and a friend who saw the image found this for me, so now I can redo the image with the tongue included!
So, thank you very very much for sharing!
Cheers!

Glad you like it! It's a little bit tricky to align it in size and to bring it in position, because it is not parented to any model. The biggest problems i got with the Komodo Dragon-model [link] because there the open/close mouth is done with a morph instead of rigging, and i have to move the tongue separately whenever i open/close the mouth. but on the most snake-models with a rigged lower jaw the best idea is to parent it to the lower jaw and adjust it then to it's position.
P.S. Great result! Looks like a photo! i didn't get anything right with Reality/LuxRender... It's still refusing to work for me (or i am too impatient with it).

It's very nicely worked out. I managed to align and parent it to my python quite easily.
The only thing I missed was the non availability of rigging/bones in the tongue itself, I couldn't use the pose tool to pull the tongue bits to pose like I usually do with figure limbs. So I had to pick individual segments and bend rotate them.
A bit of a workaround, but it worked quite well. I haven't tried it on other figure as yet, but feel confident it should work as well
That Komodo Dragon of yours looks utterly fantastic! The texture and the pose are very impressive!
I've been so happy with the results reality/luxrender gives that I forced myself to adapt to it, but I understand the frustration it can give because when it refuses to work like you want it to, it can be so painful & takes forever, so yes patience is a kind of prerequisite with that work flow!
BTW, thanks for checking out my work & the encouragement!
& again many thanks for sharing the tongue!
Cheers!

Yes, i still did not found out how to create this "EasyPose"-sliders with "BendBef", "BendAft", "SideBef" and so on that a lot of professional models come with. I am not sure if it is possible to do this in the DAZ-Studio rigging-system. Maybe in the new rigging-system of DS 4.6. Must learn it as next and stop using the old, but familar DS 3-Rigging-tools. And there is an extra tool called "EasyPose Underground" to create this functions [link] too, but i don't know if it work as a stand-alone prog. or only in Poser.

I read somewhere that those easy pose ones are done through scripting.
I tried rigging once, but it was too complex for me to really get anywhere. & DAZ documentation sucks, so I couldn't even look it up. I suppose there might be some tutorial on YouTube..

Glad you like it! The missing tongues on almost all snake-models was the thing, that bothered me the last 5 years a lot too and i was forced to add them later in PaintShop Pro and align the "2D-PNG tongue" in light and shape to the 3D-rendering all the time... and often it doesn't looked really convincing.

it's really always been one of those things that left me just holding my head and thinking why didn't they give a snake a tongue? i've never seen a functional snake without a tongue in reality. just...why????
all that said, thank you a thousand times over much for such a practical addition!
