[chuckles] I'm not sure if you want to mention that to THIS particular Shinigami, he is a rather humane guy... erm Antropomorhic Personification and isn't all that keen on killing... especially cats.

Well I should be a bit more specific, I was referring to Death from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. His Death is... well pretty much the kindest, nicest and all-around most pleasant beings to be around in that world. The thing is that Death doesn't Kill people, he appears when they die and the moment they die he removes the connection between the body and soul and then allows the soul to go to the afterlife. He is a very kind and pleasant fellow though quite often a bit awkward, what with being a personification of Death incapable of completely understanding our human quirks. He had a daughter and an apprentice which got married and now he has a granddaughter as well. And he loves cats, once when he retired from the job he found a work at a bar and spoiled cats silly with bits and pieces of delicious meat.

He is ^^ He cares about humans and more than once saved us from Things From Beyond, he is a bit scatter-brained and lacks in common sense but that's only understandable considering What he is. He is an all around nice person if overly serious about his job. Oh and did I mention he has a mascot ?? It's called Death of Rats, a cute little skeleton of a mouse with it's own tiny robe and tiny scythe riding a raven that keeps talking about eating eyes but just can't find any XD You should try reading some of the Discworld books, trust me they are a wonderful read.
