It's great! After taking back the Citadel in ME1, defeating the collectors' base nobody knows where in ME2, sending reapers to eternity in ME3, salvation of Galaxy and so on, Shep is still sure that Council wouldn't send her on a suicide mission. Commander is by far the most optimistic person in the universe. And I like very much her expression when she is saying this, so naive and childish, so straightforward.
I am learning to know Shep from quite different side.
And Jack, wow!!!
Jack is already concerned about Shep's mental situation let alone the next part of the series.
She seems to meliorate her manners since the great scuffle. Maybe she speaks with slang, but she looks so civilized! A wee bit farther, and Jack will beat Miri in good tone
You are beyond any praise, Cathy! Keep on please don't give it up. It promises to be outstanding continuation of ME3

So far so good.
The only thing I might change here is instead of Jack saying "Ok. Now what's the real reason," I would of wrote "Bullshit. Now what's the real reason." I guess I would written it that way because I know how Jack would have seen right through the Shepards answer and in her brutally honest but comical way get right to the point.
The background scenes are great, sets the mood right so well done there. Dialogue for Garrus sounds about right, I do like you how you have him doing something with his hands, gives the character a little more life even if it is just a standing around and talking scene.
Anyway I hope this helps my friend.

The Council wouldn't send you on a suicide mission? That'd be a first. Yeah I usually picked Jack and Garrus as well, firepower and biotic abilities equal great combo

Haha, glad you caught on to the pun! xD
I loved Jack's biotic abilities so she was always chosen.
I chose Garrus mostly because he had an Assault Rifle and since I was a always a Sentinel (in ME2 could only use submachine guns and pistols), he was a good asset.
I also liked using Mordin for his incinerate ability in ME2.

Personally I always play as a Soldier. So having Jack's biotics and a secondary gunner proved useful.
