Judging from her look she doesn't seem like she is that unprepared. She may not see it, but she may hear it.
But if I am wrong on both accounts than she is in for one nasty and ugly surprise,no doubt! I like how you kept the creature subtle and only showing us a bit of it...heightens the terror!
Her sword looks old,like it has seen some action, and exposure to the elements. The lighting of the torch is very realistic,only showing what would be visible with such poor lighting.
However, she looks like she can handle herself no matter what. But I do hope she can fight in the dark.

I painted the shape of the fire out in white then gradually built up the yellows and reds using a paintbrush on a very low opacity.
