I'm new to 3D stuff, so take this with a grain of salt: I think you could make him look more spongy like a brownie (he looks kinda smooth still). I saw a tutorial that uses noise to add depth to terrain; maybe it could work for Domo if you took it down to a microscopic scale.
It's still a lot better than anything I could have done. Nice job!
