Description
Back at GollingI've been here three times this year but never managed to shoot from this viewpoint as the huge amount of water always covered this place in a fog of fine water particles.
At the moment the fall carries less water and it was possible to do the shot. It wasn't easy though. I had about 10 seconds before the lens was covered with a layer of water. The shot had to be taken in several steps. Composing, focusing, measuring - inbetween I always had to clean the lens. And on top of that I had to take 3 exposures for the dynamic range.
I hope it was worth the effort. I finally have got that shot now.

I read somewhere that the really talented photographers are the ones who wait for the right moment to capture a shot. I am glad you were successful in your pursuit, because it's marvelous. The water is so clear, too.

That place doesn't get any less beautiful does it. I'd say this is your best composition of it yet, so yeah, it was worth it.

Definately well worth the effort. It feels really good when a shot takes a lot of work to get right and you nail it!
This is excellent.

such a lovely location! I do feel as though the photo highlights the wrong areas a bit, if it were me I would show a little less of the bottom, and more of the waterfall up top, probably cropping it just above the rocks in the foreground, just my thoughts though it's still lovely!

I've also got a shot without the foreground. I like this one because the foreground stones add a secondary color idea.

true, but I feel you can get that colour base from the rocks underneath the water, just behind the foreground rocks, so personally, I would have cropped it just above the middle foreground rock, but again, just my thoughts, still a lovely piece

Thanks for the comment. I've already warmed it up compared to what I usually use for water. I want to keep a little of the blue there.

excellent andreas - the thing that makes the photo, for me, is the contrast between the crisp greens and the fluid warms - wonderful - and yes worth it!

Really love the foreground motion, and colours of the rocks through the water. Creates a really great contrast between the greens, and blues.
Good exposure blending, works very well, just that bit of noise present in the background falls.

I would love a tip on your setup. The 3 exposures etc , stunning selective sharpness on rocks and smokey water . A real gem of a shot.

Wow, it looks so beautiful it almost seems unreal, it kinda looks like a a painting. (: I love how you've got the blur of the water in contrast to how crisp the rocks look, and I like the perspective and angle you've used (:
