4 shots in one?! Keeping ISO and F stop constant, changing focusing points, then merging by software?

Only the exposure time was changed - the blending was done in Photoshop with masks.

Yes, thank you for the reply. After decades of old fashioned photography, I found a successful nature photographer on PN who plies his regular HDR technique... WITH change of focus of an otherwise relatively the same image. I was suspicious that there will be a lot of noise at poster size magnification, though he alleged to the contrary. This change of f-stop only approach ([link] )appears a far saner way to trade off a bit of contrast for a bit or quite a bit of range. Having a large monitor, I always wish there was a way to see these HDR images images in at least 20" samples to appreciate the results, as most of the old school shooters are inherently suspicious of trade offs.

With the 5D Mark II at ISO100 the noise is not bad. If you want to be on the safe side you can "expose to the right" and take the exposure back down in the raw converter.

Well then you don't have to deal with the sensor quirks anyway

How many thousands of $ do I need to spend on all the processing and post processing soft?

Wonderful photograph. I really like the colors of the grass around the bottom of the image. I've heard great things about the Zeiss 35-70/3.4. Really wish they could make these in canon/nikon mounts without an adapter.

Thanks ... for nature photography the adapter solution works well - for the rest, just too slow.

been looking for this zeiss lens and its a tough one to find. Due to an error with ebay i received 2 c/y adapters so now i need a lens for the second. My old yashi 50mm is every bit the nostalgia i hoped it would be. I think im may be an alternate lens convert now. If only i could score a zeiss on the cheap lol.

GReat scene again well done on this. Dont you think you pushed the saturation to much it looks like some of the grass in the foreground turned blueish because of sats?

AndreasResch In reply to Dreampixphotography [2010-06-08 07:47:43 +0000 UTC]
Aside from the general saturation issue (it's a matter of taste finally), the blues on the grass are actually there, even in the original raw file. They seem to reflect the sky in a very intense way together with collecting the ambient blue light of the foreground in shadow. I actually like the color contrast they create which brings some tension to the otherwise plain foreground.
Thanks for the remark.
