Description
The famous Matterhorn in the first morning light. I always wanted to capture this moment on 4x5 Velvia film and last October I had the chance to do it.More image details on my website (in German) ... [link]

This is such a beautiful shot! I love the sharp perspective on the mountain, and the reflection in the lake. You captured the color nicely. I'd utterly love to get your advice and tips on my work. It'd be great if I could start taking shots like this!

Indeed, Maria. One of the great rewards waking up there without all the people around.

Nice colors. I like this place, I get a feeling you can't get a bad picture here. How hard is it to get to this lake ? Is there a lot of walk ?

It's easy, Ivan. You have to take the Sunnegga cable car and then walk for about 45 minutes. It's an ascent of about 300m.

Great, it easy job then, I just hope that cable car runs after the sunset, it wouldn't be nice to spend a night up there in the cold

You should stay up there so you can get both sunset and sunrise in time.

Entwickelt wurde es in einem Labor in Wien und gescannt in Deutschland. Sowohl im Scan-Editor als auch in Photoshop wurden noch die ΓΌblichen Γnderungen vorgenommen (Kontrast, SΓ€ttigung).

No one else has said it yet so: This reminds me of Middle Earth when they light the beacons to summon Rohan. Ahem, Pardon me, my geek is showing. Wonderful, wonderful shot.

These are just artefacts from the downsizing/compression. The original is fine.

I know, but that's how most people are going to view this image. Maybe consider masking out the "sharpened" sky?
