All that is known about the phantom is that he was a soldier/mercenary who received serious cybernetic enhancement, to become one with his car, and the only reminder of his mysterious past is a set of dog tags. But he hardly focuses on his past, whether he was a good man or a bad one does not matter, all that matters to him is racing, and of course winning, and he will do anything to win.
