Description
A WIP for a client asking for a deadly alien insect with the added challenge that it actually has to look cute. Currently coloring it in Photoshop, but I really liked how the B/W turned out so I thought I would share that here. Will hopefully share the final color piece soon.Created using 2B and 8B pencils with additional cleanup and highlights in Photoshop.

Thank you! I do prefer to work in B/W. I always feel that my color work lacks the contrast or drama of the B/W version. Hopefully when I complete the color, I won't feel like it lost something along the way.

The owl aspect was purely unintentional. I was looking at other cute insects and arachnids (furry moths, jumping spiders, etc. to name a few examples). And it's often a staple that larger eyes and a larger head in proportion to the rest of the body implies cuteness. But owls are cute too, in my opinion, so ... happy accident?
